Inner Child + Beyond Starts NOV. 11th - Close the Gap Between Knowing and Doing

Something happens when a man first reads a Dr. Eddie Capparucci book like Going Deeper.

His eyes open.

He starts to see the wounded boy underneath the behavior.

He understands for the first time why he does what he does when he doesn’t want to.

Why the same trigger keeps working.

Why he shuts down when his wife is hurting.

Why the stress response goes straight to the running for the hills instead of somewhere healthy.

He gets it.

And then he closes the book and doesn’t know what to do with any of it.

That gap between understanding your Inner Child and actually reparenting him is exactly where most men get stuck.

Knowledge without a process is just more information you can’t use yet.

Here’s what the Inner Child actually looks like running the show...

Your wife brings up the betrayal again.

The wounded boy inside doesn’t hear a woman in pain.

He hears danger.

He hears attack.

He feels the same feeling he felt at eight years old when he was in trouble and there was no safe place to go.

So he shuts down.

Walls up.

Goes cold.

Leaves the room emotionally before he ever leaves it physically.

And your wife is left talking to a wall wondering why he can’t just be present with her.

Reparenting in real time looks like this...

You feel the shutdown starting.

You recognize it.

You name it internally.

The little boy is scared.

This isn’t an attack.

You separate the past from the present.

This is a woman who is hurting and needs me to stay with her on the pain field.

And then you choose to stay.

Not because it’s comfortable.

Because the adult in you is finally leading instead of the eight year old.

That skill doesn’t come from reading about it.

It comes from doing the work in a group with men who are learning the same thing at the same time.

That’s what Inner Child + Beyond is built for.

Starts November 11th.

Wednesday nights. 7:30 PM Eastern.

Three times a month.

Dr. Eddie’s material.

A safe place to do the actual work.

“When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.” [1 Corinthians 13:11]

The inner child doesn’t go away.

He gets led.

That’s what the group teaches.

And for the betrayed wife reading this: the man who shuts down when you bring up the pain isn’t indifferent.

He’s eight years old and terrified with no tools.

The man who does this work starts to show up differently.

Not perfectly.

But differently.

That’s worth encouraging.

2 Practical Tips:

To Battle Lust: The next time you feel the urge hit, ask: how old does this feel right now? Whose voice is driving this? That single question is one way to begin reparenting.

To Help Your Wife Heal: Tell her about the shutdown pattern. Explain what’s actually happening when you go cold. “When I shut down it’s not because I don’t care. There’s a part of me that goes into panic and I’m learning how to lead that part instead of disappear into it.”

November 11th.

Don’t just read about it.

Do the work.

As Dr. Eddie would say, practice, practice, practice.

Stop Edging to be Free

The addict brain loves edging. It gets the hit without “technically” acting out. Edging is living on the edge of lust without crossing the line you’ve drawn. A lingering look. A scroll through “harmless” photos. Pictures that are "not porn." A fantasy replayed in your head. You tell yourself it doesn’t count because you didn’t go all the way. Your brain doesn’t care. It still gets the rush. “Each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire, when it has...

Why Betrayal Cuts So Deep and 8 Ways to Rebuild Trust Starting Today

“If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of God, as we walked about among the worshipers.” [Psalm 55:12-14] That is why it cuts so deep. A stranger can’t hurt your wife like the man she trusted. Think about verse 14. This is someone who shared sweet fellowship, who walked into church beside her, who prayed next to her,...

Info Night This Sunday: Inner Child + Beyond Group

You’ve done the hard work of staying sober. You’ve read the books, gone to the meetings, and kept grinding through the urges. And still, the same reactions keep showing up: the anger that comes out of nowhere, the shutting down, the need to escape when things get tense. That’s usually not a sobriety problem. It’s an old-wound problem. And it can be healed. There’s a second hard piece too, and it’s the one many men skip: empathy. Real empathy isn’t saying “I’m sorry” and moving on. It’s the...
